Best essential oils to prevent a cold from taking hold

Last night I had a scratchy throat and knew I cold was manifesting so immediately added a couple of drops of On-Guard preventative blend to a glass of water that I took to bed.

This morning the cold is beginning to take a hold so drastic action is required. Here are the essential oils to use to prevent and clear a cold.

OnGuard – Protective Blend

OnGuard protective blend essential oil supports a healthy immune system.

I you feel a cold coming on then OnGuard should be taken or diffused immediately.

OnGuard contains:

  • Wild Orange Peel
  • Clove Bud
  • Cinnamon Bark/Leaf
  • Eucalyptus Leaf
  • Rosemary Leaf/Flower essential oils

Lemon essential oil

If Frankincense is the ‘King of Oils’ then for me lemon is is the ‘Queen of oils’.

Lemons are cold compressed it is the rind of the lemon that is used to create the oil. Lemon contains anti-imflammatory, anitoxidant and antibacterial properties.

Lemon oil is a good oil to take daily in a glass of water to maintain a strong immune system.

The anti-bacterial properties are said to be good for colds.

Frankincense

If in doubt take Frankincense. I really do not want this cold to take a hold of me today as I have far too much to do so I’ve added Frankincense to my water.

Frankincense is known for its anti inflammatory properties and is good at reducing the nasty phlegm the back of the throat.

Oregano Essential Oil

Oregano is one of the best essential oils to prevent and treat a cold. If you do not have Frankincense for whatever reason then Oregano is contains many excellent natural health benefits.

Oregano is a hot oil so I recommend added a couple drops to a veggie cap to take internally.

Oregano is good for healthy respiratory function.

*Do not add oregano to a glass of water as it will burn your lips.

*recommended to dilute with fractionated coconut oil before applying topically.
