I began my Yoga practice in Ringwood, Hampshire at a gentle class learning the moves and relaxation techniques. My Sunday mornings became more and more important to me as I looked forward to those soothing tones of my yoga teacher and practicing my head stands!
I am not a yoga Teacher and my knowledge is limited but I urge those reading this to continue your research.
Yoga can be carried out anywhere, anytime, you can sign up for a class, do yoga at home and even take your mat on holiday.
What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha means ‘force’ in Indian. Most of the yoga terminology derives from Indian language.
Contemporary yoga consists of gentle yoga exercises, stretching, balancing and concentrating on breathing. The classes will finish with ‘Namaste’ respectful in Hindu.

What are the benefits of Hatha Yoga?
Everyone in the modern world needs to be able to switch off. Switch off from the technology, work, the commute, the family, the stresses and strains of modern day living.
Our bodies have their limitations and just like anything else they need time to heal or just time out.
Meditation during yoga practice
Meditation is incorporated into our yoga practice. We empty our minds of negative thoughts, emotions, worry, anxiety and concentrate on awareness in the moment.
Practicing mediation takes us to a higher state of awareness. This higher state of awareness helps us to achieve our true potential.
Yoga Elements Guernsey
So my yoga practice continued in Guernsey with Katie Brock from Yoga Elements.
In the summer Katie runs Yoga classes in Saumerez Park and beach locations across the island at 6pm after a look hard day at the office or in a class room this is the perfect way to unwind.
Katie’s classes are varied although she does push us to stretch and balance and encouraged to understand and know our bodies boundaries.
I highly recommend her yoga classes. Katie is a perfect Yoga Teacher in every way, she is calm, she encourages and stretches you with every lesson being completely unique. You will leave feeling completely rejuvenated and alive.
