If you are planning a party during the holidays, or just fancy drinking something other than wine, here are a few festive cocktails to ensure Christmas really does feel special.
I love the spice of the mulled wine and love nothing better than drinking Baileys while enjoying a festive movie. Here are a few I like and links to many more.
Apple Pie Moscow Mule
4oz. Apple Cider
4oz. Apple Pie Vodka or Caramel Vodka
1 bottle ginger beer or apple cider beer.
Fill 2 cups with ice. In cocktail shaker combine all but the beer. Shake. Fill cups half way. Top with beer. Garnish with cinnamon sticks and apple slices.
Make it Mulled
1 750ml bottle red wine – Cabernet sauvignon
3/4 brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 star anise
10 whole cloves
1/2 vanilla bean
1/2 half cup brandy
Place all the ingredients in a large pot and gently heat for 60 minutes. Once ready then strain the spices then serve with the lemon and orange slice.
For Baileys lovers
Baileys Cinnamon Toast Punch
2oz. Baileys Pumpkin Spice
1/2 oz. Cinnamon syrup
Hot Apple Cider
Orange wedge and cloves to garnish
Cranberry Hot Toddy
32 ounces cranberry juice
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon whole allspice
2 cinnamon sticks
11-inch piece ginger peeled and thinly sliced
optional: 2 whole star anise
3/4 cup dark rum, Jack Daniels or Bourbon
Add cranberry juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks, allspice and ginger to a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Reduce to simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes.
2 measures of Warninks Advocaat
1/2 measure cognac (optional)
Fresh lime Juice or lime cordial
Pour the advocaat over ice followed by the lime, cognac then top up with the lemonade. Pop a cocktail cherry on a cocktail stick to use to stir. Enjoy.
20ml Lime juice
15ml fresh ginger syrup
Optional: 35ml vodka and 5ml absinthe
Garnish with Lemon and mint sprig
Pour ingredients over a high class filled with ice then garnish.
Enjoy and Happy Christmas!
