This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the charity Shelter. There will be no celebrations though as over 250,000 people will be homeless this Christmas.
The lack of affordable homes is affecting families right across the country. Nine million people are in private rental accommodation, some of which is unfit for purpose with one third not even meeting the Decent Homes Standards.
Slippers for Shelter
This Christmas Shelter are asking the nation to put on their slippers on 9th December to show support for those in need over the festive season. ‘Slippers for Shelter‘ is one of the easiest and fun ways to raise money. Resource packs are available on the Shelter website.

Enough is enough
The ‘enough is enough’ campaign is requesting signatures to petition the government to end child homelessness for good.
There will be over 120,000 children left homeless this Christmas.

Shelter provide help and support to anyone who needs it. The donations go to funding advise centres across the country.
Shelter are pursuing support to change housing laws for millions of people to eradicate homelessness for future generations.
